Thankyou for this. Man, SP1 adds so much functionality, and then slowly takes some away at the same time...
Thankyou.
Yes, Microsoft has done some wonderful things with Exchange 2007 and you are correct some features have been lost but I believe the benefits out way the loses..... I am ready for the next version :)
So what is the most economical method to perform a streaming backup of a ex2k7 database?
can we copy ntbackup.exe to a win2008 server??
me thinks probably not, but may give it a try
signed DNA1776
So Windows 2008 has remove the exchange aware piece at the moment and there should be some intergration to come later ..... I would not recommend streaming backups as they are slowing and more overhead on the system. Most products have moved to VSS and would look at DPM or other products which utilize vss.
Gotta love stuff like this. Yea, let's go ahead and silently remove a feature which breaks your backups. Awesome.
They screwed with Exchange so much in 2007 that don't even want to recommend it to any of our clients.
actually moving from streaming to VSS is a way better solution as streaming backups are much slower to perform. This feature is disabled for security purposes and a simple reg key can turn it back on.
I believe Ex 07 is a solid product but there are a number of features that I liked better in E2k3...
